A stabbing at Digi Park early Friday morning left a 24-year-old Belize City woman hospitalized with serious injuries. Chelsey Lewis, a resident of Arlington Drive, is recovering at the KHMH in stable condition after suffering multiple stab wounds to her face and body.
Police received a report around 3:40 a.m. and rushed to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. There, officers found Lewis being treated for injuries she sustained during a violent altercation near Newtown Barracks.
Investigators learned that Lewis and four friends had been socializing at the Thursday Thirsty Nightclub shortly before the stabbing. After leaving the club, the group walked to nearby Digi Park. At the park, they encountered two women, one of whom was identified as Erynne Belezaire.
An argument quickly erupted between the two groups. That verbal dispute escalated into a physical confrontation. During the fight, Belezaire allegedly pulled a knife and attacked Lewis.
Police detained Belezaire and took her to the Precinct Three Police Station. Authorities issued a medico-legal form for Lewis and confirmed she remains hospitalized, although stable.
Later that day, police formally arrested and charged 26-year-old Erynne Belezaire of Euphrates Avenue. She now faces charges of “Dangerous Harm” and “Use of Deadly Means of Harm.”
This stabbing at Digi Park has raised new concerns about late-night violence in Belize City. As nightlife venues attract larger crowds, incidents like this continue to draw attention to public safety.
The Belize Police Department urges anyone witnessing violent behavior to report it immediately. Quick action could prevent similar events from escalating and protect others from harm.
