A fatal Guinea Grass accident tragically ended the life of 35-year-old Carlos Landaverde on Easter Monday.
According to police, Landaverde drove a white Chevy S10 pickup along the Guinea Grass Road. Around that time, he collided with a black Ford Explorer. The crash caused extensive damage to both vehicles, and bystanders quickly alerted authorities.
Emergency services responded within minutes. However, despite swift medical efforts, Landaverde could not be revived. Doctors at the Northern Regional Hospital pronounced him dead shortly after arrival. He sustained multiple serious injuries during the crash.
Eyewitnesses confirmed that the collision was violent and left debris scattered across the road. Several people nearby rushed to assist before first responders arrived.
Authorities have launched a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash. Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Hilberto Romero confirmed important details about the case. He stated that Oscar Garcia, the driver of the black Ford Explorer, is cooperating with police.
As part of the investigation, officers collected a urine sample from Garcia for testing. Police have prepared a full case file, which will be submitted to the Director of Public Prosecutions. That office will determine any possible legal actions.
In the meantime, police continue to gather evidence and interview witnesses. They have not ruled out any contributing factors, including speed or distraction. However, no charges have been filed at this time.
