Six teachers at St. Paul’s Anglican School in Corozal have officially requested an inheritance fund audit. Their request comes after serious concerns about how the school has managed inheritance money donated to the institution.
In a formal letter dated December 3, 2024, the teachers addressed Principal Nancy Aguilar. They outlined inconsistencies in reported amounts linked to the inheritance. Initially, staff were told the inheritance totaled $21,000 BZD. However, later reports mentioned a first payment of $41,000 and another amount of $87,872.34.
The teachers stated, “We are tired of fighting an uphill battle,” and demanded full access to all financial documents. They called for transparency in how the funds are being handled.
Their request for an inheritance fund audit aims to clarify the actual amount received and how it has been managed so far. They believe open access to the records will restore trust among staff and stakeholders.
In response, Jeremy Cayetano, General Manager of Anglican Schools, confirmed that the matter is already under review. He emphasized that the issue has reached both church and legal authorities. Cayetano strongly denied any suggestion of misconduct, stating, “Nothing is being swept under the rug.”
He warned that no threats or ultimatums against administrators would be accepted or acted upon.
Furthermore, Cayetano confirmed the inheritance funds are currently frozen. They will remain that way until the investigation concludes.
He also revealed that an independent audit is already in progress and should be finished by June.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education has not yet issued a public response.
As of now, the case remains under official review by legal and church officials.
