The Cabinet has supported recommendations made by the National Oversight Committee on Monday, June 8th which will now see further relaxation in the COVID-19 Lockdown Restrictions currently placed on Belize.
This relaxation will allow more people to return to work and more businesses to reopen.
According to the announcement made by the Government of Belize, the number of persons allowed for a social gathering will increase from 40 to 100, meaning private parties, weddings, funerals, receptions, meetings, etc. will be able to be held in person as long as they continue to follow the social distancing protocols put in place.
The press release continues stating that curfew hours will be shortened to 10:00 pm to 4:59 am from Sunday to Thursday and 12:00 am (midnight) to 4:59 am on Friday and Saturday.
Parks and playgrounds will now be accessible again and recreational sports involving physical contact such as volleyball, basketball, football, etc. will be allowed.
Gyms and Spas will also be allowed to operate.
These eased COVID-19 Lockdown Restrictions will take effect on Friday, June 12th, 2020.
Also of note, the Government of Belize has officially announced that they have zero plans on extending the current State of Emergency when it expires on June 30th, 2020.
