The spike in crime in Corozal District continues as Corozal Police report that on Saturday, July 25th, one Sheldon Welch of a Corozal Town address reported that at sometime around 10:00 AM while he was in his yard, he was approached by one Samuel Bevans who pointed a gun towards him and attempted to fire a shot but fortunately for Welch the gun misfired.
Corozal Police conducted an investigation which led to the arrest of Samuel Bevans who was charged for the crime of aggravated assault.
This is the 3rd shooting incident in a week to occur in Corozal with the 1st being Raymond Jenkins who was executed while siting in his vehicle in Calcutta Village, and the 2nd being Jair Tamay who was found dead, with a gunshot wound to the head, under the bleachers at the Ricalde Stadium.
