Corozal Police Placed Under Quarantine After Police Constable Tests Positive For COVID-19

As a new batch of samples were tested today, 8 new positive cases have been reported with the majority of them being from reparations except for 1 specific case that has been reported in the Corozal District.

According to reports, a Police Constable belonging to the Corozal Police Department was hospitalized after showing severe symptoms of COVID-19.

It is unknown as to where he got it from as he has not been out of the country nor has come in contact with any COVID-19 Positive Belizeans who have arrived from abroad nor from any Illegal Border Jumpers.

Due to the fact that this unnamed Police Constable has been actively working up to the time, he was hospitalized, more than a dozen Police Officers belonging to the Corozal Police Department who worked alongside him have been placed under quarantine.

There are no reports on whether this means there are currently no active Police Officers in Corozal or if Police Officers stationed in other districts were dispatched to Corozal.

The Ministry of Health have already started tracing to try and find who the Police Constable may have come in contact with.

We urge the Ministry of Health and Belize Police Department to release the name of the Police Constable in order for anyone who may have come in contact with him to begin self quarantining.
