The Belize Ministry of Health reported that on Saturday a patient, later identified as Carlos Peralta, was being treated at a private medical clinic in Orange Walk for heart related issues when he passed away later that night.
A postmortem conducted on his body revealed that he died as a result of COVID-19 related problems.
Peralta had attended mass at La Inmaculada Church in Orange Walk on Wednesday, August 12th and a close family member had reportedly attended mass on Sunday, August 16th so as a precaution La Inmaculada Parish and the Ministry of Health are requesting that anyone who attended mass on the dates mentioned above to self quarantine for 14 days.
The priest who hosted the mass on the two dates is also self quarantining as a safety precaution.
