After the Belize Police Department shut down various social gatherings throughout Belize and had the people who attended and hosted it charged over the weekend, a video went viral on Social Media on Monday showing some police officers in uniform drinking alcoholic beverages while attending an off-duty police officer’s birthday and not adhering to the same rules of no social gatherings put in place by the Government of Belize.
In response to the video, the Commissioner of Police, Chester Williams, claims that he is disappointed in seeing that the very same Police Officers who are paid to uphold the law and to protect the citizens are the ones who are breaking the very same laws and for that, they must be dealt with.
Williams furthermore claims that he has sent word to the Belize City Commanding Officer to deal with the Police Officers seen in the video in the same manner as they would to a civilian who violates the laws.
