Reports coming in from the Belize Police Department claim that the Belizean Consulate in Mexico that Immigration Officers had detained a Belizean Police Constable in Chetumal, Quintana Roo.
According to the report, the Police Constable, identified as 28-year-old Mark Hinds, was caught traveling on a bus heading towards Chetumal coming from the riverside village of Alvaro Obregon.
Hinds who is attached to Precinct One in Belize City claimed that he had crossed the Rio Hondo River in a well-known crossing spot located between the riverside villages of San Victor (Belize side) and Alvaro Obregon (Mexico side) in order to head to Chetumal to purchase parts for his motorcycle.
Belizean diplomats negotiated the deportation of PC Hinds who was escorted by Mexican Immigration on Thursday, August 12th to the Belizean Immigration Office located at the Northern Border of Belize where a Belizean Immigration Officer took the responsibility of detaining him.
The commander of the Belize Police Departments Professional Standards Branch, ASP Calbert Flowers, has since stated that Police Constable Mark Hinds will be charged as a regular civilian for the crime of border jumping.
