Pope Francis in Critical Condition After Severe Respiratory Crisis

Pope Francis is in critical condition following a prolonged respiratory crisis, according to The Guardian. The 88-year-old pope has been hospitalized since February 14 due to a serious lung infection and is receiving intensive treatment.

Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin confirmed that, despite his condition, the pope remains conscious and alert but is experiencing increased pain. Doctors worry about the risk of sepsis, a severe pneumonia complication, but say he is responding to treatment.

In an interview with Corriere della Sera, Parolin dismissed rumors of resignation, calling them “useless.” He emphasized that the focus should remain on the pope’s recovery.

Doctors expect Pope Francis to remain hospitalized for at least another week as treatment continues.
