Lord’s Bank Drowning: Man Dies After Alleged Motorcycle Theft Attempt

Authorities are investigating a Lord’s Bank drowning after a man allegedly tried to steal a motorcycle, fled the scene, and disappeared in a pond.

The body of 42-year-old Herbin Bans was found submerged in a Lord’s Bank pond on Sunday, March 2nd. Police are now working to determine the circumstances surrounding his death.

Reports indicate Bans had been drinking at a Ladyville nightclub after returning from Punta Gorda on February 28th. Around 2:30 a.m. on March 1st, someone dropped him off at home, but he never went inside.

According to police, Bans allegedly attempted to steal a motorcycle early Saturday morning. When confronted by the owner, he ran toward a nearby pond. Officers responded and saw him moving through the water before vanishing. He was later reported missing.

Investigators suspect alcohol may have played a role in the Lord’s Bank drowning, confirming Bans had been drinking before the alleged theft attempt. However, they found no visible injuries on his body.

“We are still gathering information to determine exactly what happened,” ACP Hilberto Romero stated.

Although no foul play has been identified, police continue to investigate and urge anyone with information to come forward.
