The Belize Police Department report that on the evening of Monday, February 1st, 2021 they were stationed at a checkpoint near Manatee Lookout on the Phillip Goldson Highway when they stopped a Chevy Pickup Truck with orange Walk plates being occupied by two men, one Mennonite and one Belizean.
Upon conducting a search on the vehicle, Police Officers found just over a kilo of cannabis hidden inside the door panel of the passenger door of the vehicle.
Also found during the search was 1.5 grams of cocaine inside of the phone case of one of the two men.
Based on the evidence found, Police Officers obtained a search warrant to conduct a search of the home of one of the men where they found an additional package containing just over a kilo of cannabis and an additional 1.2 grams of cocaine.
The two men, identified as 23-year-old Mennonite Farmer, Herman Friesen of Camp 28 in Little Belize and 27-year-old Gerardo Lino of Progresso Village were arrested and charged with Two Counts of Possession of Controlled Drugs with Intent to Supply to Another.
Friesen was additionally charged with three counts of Possession of Controlled Drugs with Intent to Supply to Another.
