Even with Belize ranking #1 on the highest amount of COVID-19 Cases throughout the Caribbean, the Government of Belize refuses to lockdown the country.
Ambergris Caye’s Community Leaders feel differently, according to sources they are getting together today, Monday, December 14th, to create an Island Task Force which will be working to create more awareness of the pandemic, enforce stricter regulations, and make sure that businesses adhere to quarantine regulations.
The San Pedro Police Department will also be stepping up in ensuring residents of Ambergris Caye wear their masks, and practice social distancing protocols,
“These are essential to keep the virus at bay and cannot be stressed more for everyone to continue practicing, we know people do not want a lockdown so we all need to be responsible when outside of our homes to ensure everything will be better with time.”

More information on this taskforce will be released once they meet for the first time today.
