A BDF Border Patrol team faces scrutiny after footage surfaced showing soldiers buying supplies in Monte Los Olivos, Guatemala. The video shows them at a local store, improperly dressed, with weapons slung behind their backs.
Guatemalan media reported the soldiers arrived in a Toyota Hilux and allegedly intimidated villagers. However, BDF Border Patrol officials are investigating to ensure proper protocol was followed.
BDF Chief of Staff issued a statement:
We recognize concerns about the soldiers’ attire and weapon handling. An investigation is underway to uphold conduct standards and operational integrity.
Soldiers suggested they bought supplies due to a shortage, as they mainly received rice instead of flour. They remain stationed there for 18 days.
