A Belize City burglary is under active investigation by police after thieves reportedly broke into a residential apartment and stole valuables worth almost $3,000. The incident occurred sometime between March 29 and April 5, 2025, at the Chon Saan Restaurant Building located on Kelly Street.
This three-story building not only houses the popular restaurant but also includes private residential apartments. According to police reports, the burglars specifically targeted an apartment on the third floor. The complainant, who lives in that unit, stated that unknown individuals unlawfully entered his residence while he was away.
Once inside, the suspects focused their attention on his 15-year-old son’s bedroom. They managed to escape with several valuable items, including gold jewelry and cash. The stolen jewelry includes a gold ring adorned with stones valued at $1,000, a gold-plated bracelet with a three-leaf clover worth $100, and a 14-carat Cuban link gold bracelet estimated at $1,500. Additionally, the thieves took $380 in cash.
Altogether, the total estimated loss from this Belize City burglary stands at $2,980.
Police continue to investigate the case and are working to identify those responsible. Meanwhile, authorities are urging residents—especially those living in mixed-use buildings—to enhance security measures and report any suspicious activity immediately.
