A Belize City student targeted in a shooting on Monday night managed to escape unharmed. The 17-year-old was walking home on Cannondale Drive around 8:20 p.m. when two men on bicycles approached him near McKay Boulevard.
Both suspects wore dark clothing, making identification difficult. One of them stopped, pulled out a firearm, and fired multiple shots in the teen’s direction. Reacting quickly, the student ran into his yard, narrowly avoiding injury.
The gunfire struck the lower flat of his family’s two-story home. Police arrived shortly after and found multiple bullet holes in the building. Officers also recovered expended shells from the yard.
Investigators immediately canvassed the area, reviewing surveillance footage and speaking with neighbors who provided valuable information. Authorities continue to follow leads to identify the attackers.
This Belize City student targeted in a shooting incident raises concerns over youth safety in residential areas. Police urge anyone with information to come forward.
