A Belmopan drowning claimed the lives of two young men, Alexander Munoz and Henry Artemio Osorio, at Guanacaste Park’s riverside bathing area. Authorities recovered their bodies after they failed to resurface.
At around 4:30 p.m., two female students alerted police when their friends disappeared underwater. Officers arrived quickly, but the men had been submerged for about 20 minutes. Rescuers pulled them from the water, but despite efforts to revive them, both were pronounced dead.
Witnesses say Munoz drifted away from the group, and Osorio attempted to save him before both went under.
The National Children’s Parliament of Belize shared a tribute to Munoz, a former Speaker of the Children’s Parliament, expressing condolences to his loved ones.
Authorities continue investigating the Belmopan drowning to determine the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident.
Our sincere condolences to friends, family, and classmates of Munoz and Osorio.
