A City Council shooting in Belize City left one man hospitalized and another facing serious charges after a heated argument turned violent.
The incident happened around 2:45 p.m. on March 8, 2025, on Orange Street. Calvin Cumberbatch, 44, a transport evaluator, and Travis Flowers, 45, a City Council enforcement officer, got into a dispute. The confrontation quickly escalated.
During the altercation, Flowers allegedly pulled out his licensed firearm and fired multiple shots at Cumberbatch, hitting him in the upper body. He then fled the scene but was later detained with the weapon still in his possession.
Cumberbatch was rushed to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, where he remains in stable condition.
Following an investigation, police arrested Flowers on March 9. He faces charges of Attempted Murder, Use of Deadly Means of Harm, and Dangerous Harm. Authorities seized the firearm as evidence.
Since the City Council shooting involved a firearm, Flowers is expected to be remanded.
