Orange Walk Police report that they were on patrol in the well known Contraband Smuggling area of Santa Cruz Village on Wednesday, August 26th when at around 7:00 PM they spotted three men unloading a canoe near the riverside.
As the team moved in to intercept two of the men escaped through the bushes while the third was apprehended by the Police Officers.
The detainee was taken to be swabbed and placed into mandatory quarantine and will be charged later on for Border Jumping.
