A 25-year-old woman became the latest victim under the Cyber Crime Act after explicit videos of her surfaced online without consent. The Cyber Crime Act aims to protect individuals from digital exploitation.
Authorities charged Charles Patrick Herbert, 43, with sexual assault, transmitting private images, and capturing explicit content without consent. Police say Herbert recorded and shared the footage using a cellphone.
The victim discovered the videos on February 21, 2025, after her common-law husband received them via WhatsApp from Herbert’s number. She had no knowledge of being filmed or assaulted.
In court, Herbert pleaded not guilty to all charges. Despite no objections to bail, the Senior Magistrate set it at $5,000 with strict conditions, including no contact with the victim and a 25-yard restriction from her home and workplace.
Herbert must return to court on April 28, 2025, as the case progresses.
