Drunk Customs Officer Crashes Into Police Vehicle And Injures Police Officer!

Corozal Police report that on Thursday, July 23rd at around 9:58 PM they were called to the intersection of 1st Street South and 4th Avenue in Corozal Town where upon arrival they observed a black in color, 2011 Toyota RAV4 parked up on the sidewalk, crashed into a barrel made into a Garbage Bin, belonging to the Corozal Town Council, that was located on the corner of the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.

It’s passenger side front headlight and bumper was observed to be damaged and the front right wheel was punctured.

Parked next to it was a black in color, Great Wall Pickup Truck belonging to the Corozal Police Department.

The Police Vehicle was observed to have extensive damage to the front portion and the driver’s side.

PC Hector Calles who was the officer on duty driving the Police Vehicle at the time of the accident reports that he was driving down 4th Avenue from a South to North Direction and upon reaching the intersection of 4th Avenue and 1st Street South when he observed the black in color Toyota RAV4 coming down 1st Street South from a South to North Direction at a high speed and was said to have ignored the stop sign which ended in the RAV4 crashing into the driver’s side of the Police Vehicle causing the aforementioned damages and harm to PC Calles.

The driver of the RAV4 was identified by Police Officers as one Rocio Vasquez, 32-year-old, Belizean Customs Officer of Corozal Town.

Police Officers indicate on the report that Vasquez had a strong aroma of alcohol coming from her breath and had difficulty maintaining her balance while standing.

Vasquez was placed under arrest and escorted to the Corozal Police Station where she was requested to submit a Urine Sample to which she refused to give.

Vasquez was then escorted to the Corozal Community Hospital where doctors attempted to take a blood sample too which she also refused.

Upon sobering up, Customs Officer, Rocio Vasquez was officially charged for the offenses of Driving a Motor Vehicle without Due Care and Attention, Failure to Give Way to a Motor Vehicle on a Major Road, Failure to Obey a Traffic Sign, Failure to Provide Specimen, Negligent Harm, and Damage to Government Property.
