A Montenegro national was intercepted at Philip Goldson International Airport (PGIA) on Monday after immigration officials discovered he was traveling with a fraudulent Belizean visa.
The passenger, 23-year-old Lazar Krivokapic, landed on a COPA Airlines flight but was denied entry when officers noticed irregularities in his visa. A background check with Belmopan Immigration Headquarters confirmed their concerns—Krivokapic had previously applied for a Belizean visa, but his request had been denied.
As officials dug deeper, they searched the airport’s exit area and found a 49-year-old man from Camalote Village waiting for Krivokapic. When questioned, the man provided a receipt from an earlier visa application for Krivokapic, which had already been rejected.
The situation quickly escalated, prompting authorities to bring in Special Branch Police, who detained both men for further questioning. Officials also confiscated Krivokapic’s passport, the fake visa, and official documents proving his prior visa denial.
Now, immigration authorities are conducting a full investigation to determine how the fraudulent visa was acquired and whether others were involved in the scheme.
