After Belize had managed to go an amazing 53 days of being COVID-19 free, the Ministry of Health sadly reported on Friday, June 5th that a nineteenth case had been confirmed.
This latest case comes from a 27-year-old who arrived in the country on Saturday, May 23rd aboard the Royal Caribbean Cruise Ship which had docked in Belize City.
The COVID-19 Positive patient is reported to have been a Belizean crew member belonging to the Royal Caribbean Cruise Ship who along with various other Belizeans working on board were finally granted permission by the Belizean Government to come home.
The good news is that the COVID-19 Positive patient has been in the 14-day mandatory quarantine at the Radisson Fort George Hotel in Belize City when he tested positive during the routine testing that is required to be taken.
The Ministry of Health is currently working together with the Royal Caribbean Group and relevant counterparts to begin contact tracing.
