Police in Ladyville in the Belize District were quick to arrest five men and a minor last night following a home invasion.
The thieves targeted the home of Garry Samuels in Burrell Boom just after seven o’clock last night and stole twenty thousand dollars worth of items.
Reports say that Samuels who was at home with relatives was held up at gunpoint inside his home by the six men who wore hoodies and face masks.
53-year-old Samuels and his family were tied up and robbed of their personal belongings.
The thieves also searched the home and left with several pieces of jewelry, electronic items, and cell phones valued at just under twenty thousand dollars.
Their escape was short-lived as Police caught up with them at mile fourteen on the George Price Highway traveling in a grey double cab ford utility vehicle heading to Belize City.
Police intercepted the vehicle reportedly driven at the time by 35-year-old Donal Lemoth of a Reggae Street address in Belize City.
The other five persons inside the vehicle were 23-year-old Shaquil Patnett of Rivero Street; 32-year-old Ryan Welcome of Fairweather Street, Belize City; 32-year-old Phillip Wallace of Ceaser Ridge Road, Belize City; 21-year-old Steven Palma of Waight Street, Belize City and a 17-year-old of Allan Pitts Crescent, Belize City.
A search of the vehicle resulted in the recovery of the stolen items.
