The Ministry of Health reports that five new positive cases have been identified in the Orange Walk District.
This comes from a family that was caught illegally crossing from Mexico into Belize.
When questioned one of the family members revealed that this was not the first time that all four members of the family have crossed the border on various occasions over the past couple of months due to a family emergency.
A fifth family member who was also caught admitted that he lives in Mexico and has crossed into Belize illegally various times over the past few weeks to visit the family members living on the Belize side of the border.
Orange Walk District now leads with the most number of COVID-19 Positive Cases in Belize with a whopping 17 cases, the majority of them are due to illegal border crossings.
Belize City leads in 2nd with 16 cases due to Belizean Repatriations arriving back in the country.
