Guatemalan Authorities have issued an arrest warrant for Jose Luis Benito Ruiz, the former Minister of Communications under the administration of former Guatemalan President Jimmy Morales.
According to the Guatemalan Authorities, Ruiz is being sought for money laundering charges after a search of a house in Antigua, currently being rented by Ruiz, resulted in the discovery of twenty-two suitcases containing money which was summed up to a total of sixteen million dollars in different currencies.
Records show that Ruiz began renting the house just one month after Guatemala’s new president took over in January 2020.
