Belize City Authorities report that the Gang Suppression Unit (GSU) are in hot water once again after a traffic accident that happened on the morning of Saturday, August 8th ended with an elderly man succumbing to his injuries.
According to the report, sometime around 11:15 AM members of the GSU were on mobile patrol on Morning Glory Street when they discovered that an elderly male sitting in the middle of the street.
They attempted to swerve and miss him but unfortunately they could not do it in time.
The elderly male, identified as 68-year-old Calvin Wright, is said to have fallen down landing in the seated position and as he attempted to get back up the mobile patrol vehicle being used by the GSU accidentally ran over him.
Members of the Gang Suppression Unit immediately transported him to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH) where he succumbed to his injures while undergoing treatment.
The driver of the mobile patrol vehicle has been detained and an investigation is being conducted.
