Jermaine Bernardez Fined $1,000 after pleading guilty to possession of a controlled drug with intent to supply. Police found 105 grams of cannabis at his Lords Bank home on February 19, 2025.
Bernardez, 23, appeared unrepresented in Belize City Magistrate’s Court #4. He admitted to having the cannabis but claimed it was for personal use during a three-week fishing trip.
Despite his explanation, the magistrate ruled that the amount exceeded the 60-gram threshold for simple possession. Bernardez, a first-time offender, received a non-custodial sentence.
The court ordered Jermaine Bernardez fined $1,000, plus a $5 court cost. He must pay by May 30, 2025, or face three months in prison.
Police reported finding the cannabis in a yellow plastic bag during a house search in Lords Bank. Bernardez was arrested and taken to Ladyville Police Station, where officers weighed the drugs.
