Mexico Bans The Sales Of Instant Noodle Soups

On Friday, October 1st, the Mexican Federal Prosecutor’s Office for Consumers (Profeco) announced that they will be banning the import and sales of Instant Noodle Soups.

According to Profeco, this comes after 33 brands of instant noodle soups underwent 363 tests to which all of them including the most popular brand “Maruchan” tested positive for extremely high counts of sodium, and calories, and very low in nutrition.

The instant noodle soups also tested positive for causing various side effects from consuming too much such as headaches, tachycardia, suffocation, and numbness of the mouth.

In addition, the instant noodle soups also tested positive for high counts of monosodium glutamate which are known for causing chest pain, and weakness.

Of note, even though the 33 brands tested failed most tests conducted by the Mexican Federal Prosecutor’s Office for Consumers they have fully complied with prepackaged product standards.

Profeco ended their press release claiming they will shortly be releasing the names of all 33 brands of instant noodle soups that were tested and failed.
