The Minister of Education, Patrick Faber announced that the Belize Junior Achievement Test (BJAT) for Standard Three Students and the Primary School Examination (PSE) for Standard Six Students will not be given this year.
Instead both tests will be given next year to the former Standard Three and Six students and used as an assessment to see what remedial help may be needed by each student to continue forward in their education.
Belize will also not participate in this year’s Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate nor the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination but Minister Patrick Faber states the Ministry of Education will be working with the Caribbean Examination Council (CXC) to try and find a way forward, especially as it relates to awards for students who signed up for at least six examinations.
