New And Relaxed COVID-19 Safety Regulations

The Ministry of Health and Wellness hosted a virtual press conference today to give an update on new and relaxed COVID-19 Safety Regulations.

The following newly added and modified Safety Regulations will be in place for 30 days starting on Monday, February 1st, 2021.

  1. Curfew for Adults has been moved up from the previous 8 pm to 10 pm and will remain in place until 5 am.
    • Minors must continue to follow a 6 pm curfew.
  2. Gyms will be allowed to reopen with safety regulations in place.
    • Gym Capacity will be reduced to 50%.
    • Logs must be kept on Names, Phone Numbers, and Temperatures of all Gym Members attending.
    • All equipment must be sanitized after each use.
  3. Churches will be allowed to reopen with safety regulations in place.
    • Church Capacity will be reduced to 50%.
    • All services must not last more than 1 hour.
    • Wedding and Funeral Services remain at a max of 10 guests only.
  4. Food Vendors will be allowed to sell on the street side once again.
    • Clients must be following Social Distancing Regulations.
  5. The Corozal Duty Free-Zone located at the Northern Border will be allowed to re-open with safety regulations put into place.
    • All Land Borders will remain closed until further notice.
  6. Tickets with a fine of $500 will be issued to anyone caught Out After Curfew, Not Wearing your Mask in Public, Not Social Distancing, or Playing Contact Sports.
    • This new ticketing system will be enforced for both Belizeans and Tourists in the country.
  7. Traveling to and from the Districts of Corozal and Orange Walk will be allowed once again.
    • Traveling within Districts will also be allowed.
  8. Alcohol sales will be extended up to 10 pm for Restaurants and Grocery Stores.
    • Bars, Casinos, and Nightclubs will remain closed.
