The Belize Commissioner of Police, Chester Williams, received information including a photograph as proof a few days ago about a Belizean from the Orange Walk District being spotted across the river in a small town in Quintana Roo, Mexico shopping for supplies to smuggle back into Belize and sell and it.
Based on that information and the recent spike of COVID-19 cases in Belize, the Commissioner of Police decided to send out members of the Orange Walk Police on a special mission to various villages within the district that are well known for smuggling across the Rio Hondo River and to confiscate their canoes for the time being.
As seen in the video below, sent to us by an Orange Walkeño, the Orange Walk Police were successful in confiscating the canoes from various villagers and were heading back to their local precinct where the canoes will be stashed until the COVID-19 Pandemic ends.
