A Port Loyola teen assaulted in a home burglary has sparked a police investigation. Authorities responded early Sunday morning to a break-in at a residence in the Jane Usher area.
Around 4:40 AM, officers arrived and spoke with the homeowner, who described a terrifying encounter involving her 16-year-old daughter. The teen recalled waking up to an unknown individual restraining her and covering her mouth. The intruder allegedly threatened her to stay quiet. Despite the warning, she screamed for her grandmother, who was sleeping nearby.
The attacker reacted by striking the girl multiple times, leaving her with facial injuries. As her grandmother called out in alarm, the suspect quickly fled through the front door. Due to the darkness inside the home, identifying the intruder was difficult. However, the victim mentioned that his voice sounded familiar.
Although nothing appeared stolen, the minor found her phone beside her in bed, even though it had been charging in the living room before the incident.
Investigators discovered that the suspect gained entry by removing window louvers on the east side of the home and climbing a wooden ladder.
This Port Loyola teen assaulted case has raised serious safety concerns in the neighborhood. Police urge anyone with information to come forward.
