A San Pablo Village drowning has claimed the life of 19-year-old Daniel Bulum. The incident happened just after midnight along a riverbank in the Toledo District. According to police, Bulum had gone fishing with two other men shortly before the tragedy occurred.
Police responded to a report shortly after midnight and arrived at the river near San Pablo Village. There, they discovered Bulum lying face-up and unresponsive, with several fish tied to his waist. Officers confirmed the young man showed no signs of life.
Initial investigations reveal that Daniel Bulum had been fishing with Miguel Batz and Rolando Xol. During the trip, Bulum reportedly moved about a hundred yards away from the group. Moments later, the men noticed he had submerged and was not coming back up. They quickly swam to his location and pulled him from the water. Sadly, he remained unresponsive despite their efforts.
Bulum’s older brother, 25-year-old Nelson Bulum, later identified the body for authorities. Family members are now mourning the unexpected loss of a young life cut short by tragedy.
Daniel Bulum’s body was taken to the Southern Regional Hospital Morgue. A post-mortem examination will be conducted to confirm the cause of death.
