A San Pedro immigration offense has resulted in charges for a Guatemalan national who now faces deportation. Authorities found 37-year-old Enio Armando Guerra Pichola working illegally on the island on March 16, 2025. When questioned, he failed to show a valid visitor’s permit or work permit.
Police detained Pichola and handed him over to the Belize Immigration Department the next day. Investigators confirmed that a local businessman had hired him despite his lack of legal documentation.
In court, Pichola pleaded guilty to the immigration offense. The Senior Magistrate fined him $1,000 plus a $5 court cost. Since he could not pay immediately, he was sent to Belize Central Prison until he clears the fine or serves six months in jail.
Immigration Prosecutor J. Lewis requested a deportation order, which the court granted. Pichola will be removed from Belize once he serves his sentence or pays the fine for his San Pedro Immigration Offense.
