Businessman Carlos Slim recently announced plans to open new Sanborns stores in Mexico. These stores will be similar to Costco, but without the membership requirement, and will offer the same quality as Walmart.
On Monday, February 10, Slim confirmed he will open 10 to 15 Sanborns stores across Mexico in 2025. These stores will be strategically located to compete with retailers like Costco and Walmart.
Arturo Spínola, financial director of Grupo Carso, shared that this expansion is part of a larger project. The plan includes modernizing and optimizing the infrastructure of all the group’s brands, including Sears. Along with new stores, the project also involves renovating existing locations to improve the customer experience and increase profitability.
