A Sean Kingston fraud conviction has shocked fans as the rapper and his mother were found guilty of a million-dollar scam. The Florida courtroom delivered its verdict on Friday, March 28, convicting them on all five charges related to their May 2024 arrest.
Prosecutors accused Kingston and his mother, Janice Turner, of using fraudulent documents to acquire luxury items, including a bulletproof Cadillac Escalade, a high-end television, and expensive watches. Their scheme involved wire fraud, targeting car dealerships, banks, and a mattress company.
The case began in February 2024 when Ver Ver Entertainment LLC filed a lawsuit against Kingston. He had ordered a 232-inch Colossal TV and a sound system but failed to make payments. To secure a lower price on the $111,000 purchase, Kingston falsely claimed he would create promotional content featuring Justin Bieber. However, Bieber was never involved, and the promotional videos never materialized.
During the trial, victims testified about their losses, further exposing the fraudulent activities. This case wasn’t their first legal trouble. In 2015, Kingston and Turner were ordered to pay $356,000 for failing to compensate a custom watch seller. Three years later, they faced another $301,000 judgment after scamming a New York jeweler.
As the verdict was read, Kingston broke down in tears and pleaded, “Protect my mother.” Both now await sentencing on July 11, facing up to 20 years in prison.
