Belizean authorities have issued a press release claiming that the current Leader of the Opposition, Shyne Barrow, has officially been the first elected official to be ticketed under the COVID-19 Regulations.
According to the report, the incident happened on the afternoon of Friday, September 10th at the House of Culture when he walked into the official Tenth Day Ceremony without a face mask.
Barrow claims that he acknowledges the incident happened and that it was an honest mistake to which he immediately corrected after arriving at his seat and realizing that he was not wearing a face mask.
But it was too late as the Police Commissioner, Chester Williams, had already written him up a $500 ticket for breaking COVID-19 Regulations.
Shyne Barrow also further stated that the Queen of the Bay Contestants was also not wearing a mask but according to the Commissioner of Police they were granted special permission by the Minister of Health, Michel Chebat therefore he had no say regarding the matter.
