The Commissioner of Police, Chester Williams, reports that on Wednesday, May 6th, a total of 61 people were arrested for violating regulations implemented under the State of Emergency which is in effect until June 30th.
According to the report, 26 people were arrested for “Failing to wear a cloth mask or any other type of face / mouth covering while in public”, meanwhile 15 people were arrested for “Breach of Curfew” and 14 citizens were arrested for “Being Unable to provide a reasonable explanation or proof for movement outside of curfew”.
Williams further reports that 1 person was arrested for “Attempting to enter Belize Illegally”.
Also, 3 people were arrested for “Cross District Movement”, and 2 for “Failing to practice Social Distancing”.
The Belize Police Department reminds the general public that it is currently against the State of Emergency Regulations to be out in public without wearing a face mask.
