A Belize government senators appointment has been confirmed. Prime Minister John Briceño will advise Governor-General Dame Froyla Tzalam on appointing six government senators.
The appointed senators include Eamon Courtenay, SC, Christopher Coye, Linsford Castillo, Rozel Arana, Brittney Galvez, and Hector Guerra. Courtenay will also serve as the leader of Government Business in the Senate and take on additional responsibilities as Special Representative for International Legal Affairs and Diplomacy.
Chris Coye will remain Minister of State in the Ministry of Finance. Meanwhile, Linsford Castillo, the party’s Secretary General, will continue his work.
The Belize government senators will be joined by opposition senators. The United Democratic Party (UDP) has selected Patrick Faber as the lead senator. Faber, who served as Collet’s area representative for 22 years, lost in the 2025 general election. Joining him in the Senate are UDP Second Deputy Leader Williams and Jamal Swazo from Dangriga.
The swearing-in ceremony will take place during the Senate’s inaugural session. Officials will announce the date soon.
