As the 2025 General Elections progress, Cayo North Voting Update shows a strong voter turnout and early challenges at polling stations. Lennox Nicholson, the Returning Officer for Cayo North, provided details on the voting process in San Ignacio and Bullet Tree.
Polling stations in the constituency saw an active start. “Over 500 ballots were cast in San Ignacio, while about 180 votes were recorded in Bullet Tree,” Nicholson reported. He noted that voter flow has been steady throughout the day.
However, the process faced early disruptions. Nicholson confirmed that multiple objections were raised against certain voters. “We have had to manage several objections to ballots being issued,” he explained. “I have been working with presiding officers to ensure they understand how to handle these cases.”
When asked if these objections were linked to the 124 voters previously challenged by UDP candidate Omar Figueroa, Nicholson acknowledged the connection. “Yes, objections are being made due to some court matters.”
Despite the challenges, officials ensured that every registered voter could cast a ballot. “Our job is to manage the process fairly. We are documenting all objections while allowing voters to exercise their rights.”
“The first hour was chaotic because of the objections, but the process is now streamlined,” Nicholson assured.
He encouraged all registered voters in Cayo North to participate and make their voices heard. Stay tuned for more Cayo North Voting Updates as the election progresses.
