Tracy Panton Wins Contempt Case Against Shyne Barrow

Albert Area Representative Tracy Taegar-Panton has prevailed in a contempt case filed by Moses “Shyne” Barrow, who challenged her claim as United Democratic Party (UDP) leader. Barrow argued that a November 2024 ruling confirmed his leadership, but Justice Hondora dismissed the claim, stating the ruling only addressed the possession of UDP headquarters, not the party’s leadership.

Attorney Sheena Pitts reinforced the court’s decision, confirming that Panton can continue calling herself UDP leader. She added that Barrow’s injunction attempt failed, as it would have restricted freedom of speech in a political space.

With both of Barrow’s applications dismissed, Panton’s legal team is now entitled to recover legal costs.
