Police are investigating the death of Wendy Mendez after she was found unconscious in Concepcion Village, Corozal District, on Sunday, March 9. Assistant Commissioner of Police Hilberto Romero confirmed that Wendy Mendez died from her injuries on Friday. Authorities are conducting interviews to uncover the circumstances surrounding her tragic passing.
When asked if the case involved a domestic dispute, Romero stated, “We have certain information that we are following up on.” No suspects are in custody. Police are awaiting the post-mortem results to gather more details. The investigation remains active.
In 2022, Mendez survived a brutal machete attack that killed her cousin, Juan Arturo Mendez. Jermain Zuniga, a construction worker from Libertad Village, attacked them after refusing to leave Juan’s home. Juan suffered fatal wounds to his neck, chest, shoulders, stomach, and hands. Mendez sustained severe injuries to her face and head and spent several days in critical condition. Authorities later arrested and charged Zuniga.
